Product Description

Pages for the iPad is a simple way to create documents; just because it’s simple doesn’t mean you can’t create professional looking documents. Pages even comes with templates to make professional documents with little effort—unfortunately, the templates are limited; if you want to get the most from Pages, then you need to understand how to find and use the advance features of Pages.

This book is broken into three parts. The first part is about the basic features of Pages: what they do and when to use them. The second part will be more hands on; you will create a document from scratch and learn how to insert backgrounds, manipulate graphics, embed text into graphics, and much more. The last part will briefly look at templates.

This book is for beginning users; it assumes you have no knowledge of Pages. The point of it is to give you a crash course on the basic features of Pages as quickly as possible, so you will be ready to create powerful documents on the go.

This edition was revised 4/16/10 and now includes five new chapters.

5 out of 5 stars Revision Is An Improvement   April 17, 2010

The first version of this book was lacking; it was excellent if you wanted to actually try the "hand-ons" exercise at the end of the book, but offered little for someone who just wanted to read about each feature and not actually put them in use. Three stars would be generous to that edition; the revision gives the best of both worlds, and five stars is a no brainer. The index at the end is also useful for quick reference.

4 out of 5 stars Not bad   September 1, 2010

Not a bad little informative book but I still had unanswered questions about handling Pages that deal with the end product's layout and appearance in preparing to print. I feel there could be a lot more to this to get the most out of using Pages and not getting frustrated when something doesn't do what you want and you don't know how to remedy the problem.

This may seem like a cheap way to learn about Pages but it's not worth the $3. For example, the author doesn't include simple things like the fact that the toolbar will only appear if you're in Portrait Orientation. The only chapter that's really useful is #3 and Chapter 4 is actually only a single page that repeats several times. Wait until something better comes along.
